Headlamp removal catch rod broken 08MY ?Available as a spare

As per title;

The end of the rod that pulls the lower release catch on one of my headlight units (08MY car) has fractured near the end due to age and the cold weather. I suppose I shouldn't tried replacing the bulb when it's -2 degrees outside Embarassed

Does anyone know if you can buy just the plastic rod bit?? or do you have to buy a full headlamp unit?? Rolling Eyes

Alternatively has anyone got a cracked or kn@ckered headlight unit with a good rod they are willing to sell for a small fee?

TIA
Mike

Hi MVS

I did the same last winter Evil or Very Mad , and yes you can get them as spares, and believe it or not shouldn't cost you more than a couple of quid. Just pop in to your local official LR parts department, got mine the next day from ordering.

The recession hasn't hit hard yet then?

I broke one of mine a while back and just replaced the one. Poke it, Poke it, make it do it again!!

Maybe I should clarify something.. I broke one a while ago and lashed it up with dental floss as a temp fix to allow me to pull the thing. The second one of the same vintage broke at the weekend. Hence really I thought splashing out on 2 was really necessary.

Also I am selling this car to a friend and I don't want him moaning at me Laughing

Had the same issue but hook up the headlight without the catch.

Dental floss is ingenious Thumbs Up
There's not many who would replace something so small before selling, even to a friend. It's good to know there are still some honest people out there.

It's always worth having a spare ready anyway as they are a bit flimsy. Poke it, Poke it, make it do it again!!
