A) some key cutting specialists should be able to "laser cut" blank key. Vauxhall use this type.

Yesterday I spoke to Lloyds in Carlisle and Guy Salmon Stockport, both seem to think that you can add a new key to the existing code but if the lost one turns up that will also work, meaning to cancel the lost key you would need to buy 2 new keys have them coded and have the car recoded too resulting in both original keys, (the lost one and the one remaining key) unusable. I would love to get to the bottom of this? |

My car came with only one key, the second having been lost by previous owner. I bought a remote from LR Wakefield (£105) (ebay); a key blank (£8 ish) through ebay; key was cut by a local "lazer cut" specialist for £10. Stratstone Nottingham programmed both original and new fobs for £50. Job done! 10MY (Sept 09) TD4 HSE Auto in Stornoway Grey (Now Gone)

You can reprogramme existing key and programme new key but only in conjunction with car reprogramming. Lost key will then NOT work

Junior I think you have been given the wrong information , as far as I am aware if you wish to add a new fob the code in the car is erased and a new code downloaded then the new fob and the original one you have are then coded to the new code in the car's ECU thus only needing to buy 1 new fob, if I'm wrong no doubt someone will come along and put the record straight. Gone, 2007 TD4 SE Auto Baltic blue, clear side repeaters, full sized alloy spare.

I'm hoping this is correct but there seems to be conflicting arguments flying around. |
