Yeah they swapped the LR000681 Sensor - Crankshaft on mine. £38.50 for the part, £255 for labour and diagnostics. Personally I don't have the mechanical confidence or time to replace parts like this myself hence I gave it to LR. Took 2 hours for them to do once the part was in.

Thanks to Alex for his gallery pic It looks to be external and therefore a DIY job, but is it 'plug and play'? I don't know.

I'll try and have a look over the weekend.

Spoke to the local LR dealership and they don't have any stock at the monent nor an ETA on how long it will take to order...

Yes, it's almost plug in and go, but the gap is crucial as is how clean the face is.
My old R75 had a crank sensor problem, i just cleaned the face very carefully and reseated it. It was still fine some 90k miles later before i sold the car. Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.

Pegleg - I agree it was expensive but you have to consider that half that cost was the diagnostics of the fault, especially since the car does not have an error code for it and it had to be investigated manually by LR. Once you know what the fault is then yes you can look around and pay peanuts for the fix if you can afford the time!

had this problem on my 2011spk car for 8months after a lot of hassle with the dealer and some info from another member who had the same symptoms as mine the EGR valve was changed and a (software update) this did not work ,to cut a long story short the turbo was changed and the fault went away the only thing i have been left with is simler symptoms with member RT from cold start if you bring the throttle up yo approx 1,800 rpm the engine seems to hunt like if it was a petrol engine it was over choking and has a engine vibration on tickover its going in next week for this trying to bull me off because thay did an engine re-set its still learning my driving styles if any of you need further info to help pls PM me i will try ro retun messages asap  rainy-city

bigalf - What type of diesel are you using? I had the exact same problems when I was using cheap tesco diesel, and since I switched to premium diesels from BP and shell I haven't noticed these issues anymore and also the car seems to be quieter when running. It's expensive but worth a try next time you fill up.

So this morning I decided it's time to clean that sensor. Took the wheel off, and the plastic cover behind it. From there the sensor was easy to access and removing the sensor was straight forward, remove the bottom bolt and slightly tilt the sensor towards the belt pulley and it comes out easily.

Seems I have the same stalling/jolt issue and I'm guessing I have (hopefully) a dirty CKP too. Is your problem with jolting still solved?

I have not had any issues/jolts since I cleaned the CKP, it's only been a joy to drive since.

Thanks. Will give it a try upcomming weekend. Did you only clean the sensor or also the wheel/disk? Any tips for removing the plastic cover behind the wheel? Lot of questions for such a small sensor !

I only cleaned the sensor, the wheel/disk looked too hard to get to. But that still did the trick.

The plastic cover was easy to take off once the wheel was off. There is a section in the inner wheel cover that allows access to the bottom of the engine, only a couple of screws to take out.
