My wife asked me today how does she open her windows after she's turned her car off and opened the door.

She was waiting outside school. One child arrived and climbed in. Then, while waiting for the next, someone came to have a chat. Anyway, she couldn't open her window without re-starting the car! Is there another way?

Dont put foot on the clutch and hold starter button till dash lights up. This will give power to windows.

Insert the Fob and without touching the clutch pedal manual or the brake pedal on the superior Auto, just hold down the start button for 3 or 4 seconds and the ignition only will light up.

With the key fob inserted, press and hold the stop/start button without pressing the foot brake on automatic car (I presume clutch on manual cars?)
The dash lights up.
Open or close window.
Press stop/start button to turn it all off again.

With the fob inserted a quick press of the starter button switches on the Satnav & radio so you can pre plan your journey.

Thought you might not know this as you didn't know about the windows  What if there were no hypothetical situations?

Or hold down the unlock button on the key fob for a few seconds and ALL of the windows will open

Nooooh, think of the carbon footprint with the manufacturing process involved of having to replace the clutch twice in a lifetime, the smelting foundry in overdrive making the dual mass flywheels, the grease industry for when the manual goes all clunky and hard to change gear, the internals that are at their limit of torque capacity.
A major player in the environmental catastrophe that will consume us all.

Not being able to open the windows at any time is a “design feature” that arrived with electric windows I believe and not just LR related

I have often wondered for what reason this is “normal” on today’s vehicles and that the windows can’t when needed like in the old fashioned days – after all, it only needs not to turn off the electrical contact until the car is locked  2007 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Manual with Premium Pack & Moonroof.

No no no, manual better for the Flywheel and Clutch Manufacturer and for keeping the workshops at the dealer busy, so better for the enviroment not so in the long but better for the UK economy

I must say I do like manuals but I also like autos too but which is best. There's only one way to find out FIGHT!!!!
