United Kingdom 2013 Freelander 2 TD4_e XS Manual Firenze Red

BG.

I was dogged by the same problem since I took delivery in March. Then she went in for her first service a few of weeks ago. The current software download / upgrade seems to have done the trick. I have experienced the abortive start up a couple of times (with the traction loss display) , but the various displays have not zeroed.

Suggest you go back to the dealer and ask them to re-instal the most recent software upgrade. I warn you though, at least on the screen, your fuel consumption with drop 2 -3 miles and hover round 33 - 34 (assuming yours is a TD4).

Whatthehell. It's a lovely motor. Agree?
Thumbs Up Firenze Red XS TD4 01/2013 . Averaging 1800 miles per month. My 5th Freelander in 11 years. Devotee?

I have completed 3000+ and not experienced this issue at all. When I start the car my procedure is to insert the 'key', fasten the seat belt, then press the tit. Other than a noisy start when it is cold I have not had a problem yet. One last thing is that I do not hold the tit down for any more than a second.

Hope this helps GS TD4 All Black

That also tells you how many vehicles have been produced since job 1. ref my previous posts 30 mins software update.

When leaving work tonight the car suffered it's first non-start and trip reset . The car has had a software update 3 weeks ago so I didn't expect this to happen.

Hope it's not a sign of things to come Big Cry ______________________

Big Cry Mine just started doing this last week.

And when I got home everything died. No Lights, No Dash, No Audio System, No Door Locks Zilch Nada Nothing!

I've got the battery off at the moment hoping that the Windows Method (Shutdown and Restart) will cure its ills.

It is a fully keyless system, as such, you only have to use the 'key' if the batteries is completeley flat or the remotes stop working to gain access into the car.

If you didn't have this key, how would you get in the car if the above senario happened Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

I don't think this problem has anything to do with the key \ fob because the fob just sends a signal to the computer telling it to start the engine.

This is more of a complete systems failure and the computer decides to shut everything down. Sort of an oh s@%t mode.

No its not, you still have to insert the dongle thing in the dash, and get it the right way round too. Then, if the dongle isn't spat out again, push the start button. Why can't I just leave the dongle thing in my pocket like other keyless systems? As it is, its a PITA. OK, you can get used to it - I like the push button start/stop, but the in the dash dongle thing is not thought out. - Mike

To transfer from using a key in the old FL1, RRS, FFRR i do think they have thought it out and opted for the key fob system.

Also, If they hadn't thought it out they would not have made the fob waterproof.

IMO the fob is better than a keyless entry system and better in the pocket as a key as they just scratch the mobile Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Does anybody know of the name of the software update that needs to be installed to fix this problem?

I'm going to get my car updated before my trip in early January and I have heard about some problems with the local dealers service department.

Well I took the car to the dealer and they did the update... and broke the whole damm car. Now it won't start at all.

And to make matters they don't know what else to do until LR get back after the Xmas \ New Year break Sad And I'm supposed to be going camping on Friday... Big Cry

Somehow I don't think the Volvo S40 they gave me will go on the beach too well.

Tell them to provide a like for like replacement, as this car is required and you find it unacceptable Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis
