Bump to match newer thread. I pay c. £720 with RAC, switched from Esure after they gave me a silly quote, previously c.£540 nothing to do with the £2k plus claim I had....... 59, no points, protected NCB, killer is the london postcode and parked on the street. Gone - A great 57 Plate, Auto SE, Bought Feb 2009, Roof Rails and Mudflaps added on purchase. Blue colour, anything but drug dealer black.....

Hi, renewal time!. RAC up from £720 to £797. I tried Confused and Compare the Market. Both had Admiral as cheapest, £660 and £688 respectively. All 3 comparable with Legal cover, NCD protection, Courtesy car and Windscreen but Admiral includes European travel at no charge. I have not had a claim on RAC (did previously with Esure, service OK but next years premium shot up...) Anyone with experience of claiming with Admiral??
Many thanks, JT Upgraded to an ex demo, 7 mth old, Rimini Red/Ebony Napoli Auto HSE on 28th Jan 2011, added roof rails, mudflaps and side strips.

Julytourist,
I made a claim for windscreen for a Jaguar about two weeks after taking out a multi-car policy. They were very efficient, with no problems. I have not heard how Admiral perform with more serious damage/injury claims. - 2007(57) XS Auto, Rimini Red, Alpaca Leather.

I appreciate what you’re saying Bigalf but in reality it doesn’t matter. All of the insurance companies only give a maximum of 6 years NCD anyway. I had exactly the same issues when I sorted mine earlier this year.
You will pay more because it’s just gone up in price, as it usually does, pretty much every year. 57 HSE AUTO with H.I.D's - Grey with Black leather. (H.S.E. Heightadjustable Seats Extra Sad )

In reality it's very difficult to compare insurance rates, there are too many variables like the different excesses that apply to different parts of the policy, the different definitions of commuting and work use, the different anual mileage allowances , whether you are covered in europe and whether that cover is 3rd party or green card or comprehensive, whether you are covered for towing a trailer at all, and so it goes on , My renewal was £150 more than the comparison site premium with the same compny,
i rang them up to remonstrate but when they had disected out the details of the internet offer and then adjusted it to my current level of cover it was the same.
NEVER accept a cheap quote without first seeing what you are covered for what excesses will apply and whta level of cover you get for each part of the policy.

By law they MUST cover you in Europe. But only for legal minimum. The question is whether they make you pay extra for fully comp. Swiftcover for example give you 3 days fully comp, after that you need to pay extra. Some companies put dubious wording in their small print, but the law says you're covered (EU + Norway and Switzerland).

It is surprising how much your occupation has on your insurance, I has the email from money saving expert a couple of weeks back and depending on what you ticked it could cost you a fair bit in the occupation stakes. For typical insurance of £500 for a nurse, a hospital worker was £420 Question A driving instructer £420 yet an LGV Instructer £490 all sort of odd quirks appeared

£227 with LV for FL2 - £250 excess, protected NCD etc.

£197 with Zurich for D4 - £100 excess, protected NCD etc.

No I can't work it out either!
