Hi,
I'd like to know what you guys think of our new product the Endura FPS. It is designed to work like a traditional nudge bar BUT have the additional benefit of reducing the risk of injury for pedestrians. Also of course it does protect the car in minor incidents. The Freelander 2 has not rated very well in the latest testing by Thatcham for cost of repair. The use of our product will help with this and we are intending to test at thatcham to show the difference.

I think it looks awfull even if it was painted to match the bodywork, it looks like its from another car and doesn't fit at the top edge.

In order to get the maximum pedestrian protection the idea is that the bar needs to cover the bonnet leading edge so that the childs head form test passes ok. Please see the test video http://www.endura-fps.com/ec-approved-fps/...urrent.php
We are the manufacturers for the Landrover Discovery and Range Rover front bars and they are made using the same technology. The Endura bar however has been designed to be as universal as possible and the regulations regarding where it is mounted to the car are set by the EU regs.

I wouldn't buy either. No kangaroos in Surrey and I will worry about crash repair costs when it happens......

But i prefer the look of the second.

Well, in Norway we have this problem of many cars colliding with a moose. A quite animal weighing almost a ton.

Get the LR one - looks alot better and has been designed to protect pedestrians and the vehicle. And it has been designed so that it doesn't effect the operation of the air bags.

M burton 2, yes Thatcham do assess cost of repair for UK insurance compaines and that forms part of the group rating that cars get. Please see here an example of the testing they do, not just security.

We work closely with Landrover as we are the suppliers of the Disco 3, Defender and Range Rover FPS's (Frontal PRoetction Systems) and there is no approved FPS for freelander 2. Only a front styling cover which is just a clip on plastic cover and does nothing for pedestrian protection. It meets the requirements because it comes under the weight limit. for testing.

Freelander 1 did have an FPS released from Landrover, but as this does not meet the new regulations, Landrover have stopped selling it. Some independant dealers might still have stock, but they can't get them from Landrover any more.

On Our car the sensors on the outside work fine and beep when they are supposed to. Apparently the bar is so close to the middle sensors they just turn off, if it were further away they would sens it and beep continuously. But they don't.

Our director has this bar on his car and according to him the sensors work fine.

The FL2 achieved a 5star rating (The Maximum rating available) in the Euro NCAP testing, which rates the cost of repair at various speed-impacts...(Including pedestrian impact)

OK, I need to re-word that a little...
Part of the NCAP testing is pedestrian safety, which the FL2 scores top-marks in....

The Original Freelander scored pretty low, but the FL2 got top-marks...so there is not really (That I can see) a reason for adding this.....UNLESS it provides additional fixing points, that could be used to add spot lights??
OR, you like it..THAT part is down to the individual '57 FL2 GS
