United Kingdom 2013 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Galway Green

Hi Guys

Just stumbled upon this forum via a link on YouTube to the October 11 Bala event.

I have a 2010 GS manual and have had a go at the Bala adventure day back in August, great fun. Previously (over 20 years ago) I had a 1957 Series I. I think I prefer the comfort of my Freelander 2 to bouncing about in that!

It has been put to good use taking us on many a camping trip both last summer and this as well as coping with last winters bad weather as if it was no more than a spot of heavy rain.

Nice to find a forum such as this.

Nick

That photo was taken very soon after I got it, it doesn't shine like that now. Sad

That reminds me, it's about time it was given a good clean. Cool

Hi John,

Very nice ... & impressive mpg figures as well! I have just got a 2010 TD4e HSE, 18k miles & struggle to get anywhere near such excellent mpg! What speed do you cruise at on motorways? I find mpg takes quite a nosedive anything over 70 mph.

re your comments on snow ... after a good deal of reading up on other's experiences I've gone for winter tyres (Avon Ranger Ice ... due in in a day or so & about the only decent make still available fairly immediately). For some reason, the Daily Express is very keen to print dire warningss about forthcoming winter weather & today again made a big deal of this on the front page.

Mike,
I tend to sit on 70 in cruise control on the motorway enjoying the cosseted luxury of the HSE (and a sound system I can actually hear!) rather than thrashing it. Being retired I don't have to join the commuter crocodile which helps consumption. Also, i have had a clean license for 44 years and don't want to blot my copybook now! (Although I am occasionally a tad naughty on my motorbike when nobody is looking Rolling Eyes ) I have also developed the odd habit of driving with the average MPG readout on....sort of psychological Smile I note what you say about the tyres and was thinking of getting a set of 17 rims for winter with some A/Ts on. Been used to mud tyres for the last umpteen years which is another reason why the Freelander seems so smooth and quiet! John

United Arab Emirates 2009 LR2 i6 HST Auto Stornoway Grey

Hello all,

My wife and I each have an LR2 out here in Dubai - she has a 2008 i6 HST and I have a 2009 i6 HSE.

Absolutely love them as a day to day car but I'm struggling with ride height and with not being able to deflate the tyres on my 19" wheels for desert runs. I note that that there are no lift solutions so I'm hoping to get some 16" wheels and hope that the height issue is less obvious with more grip.

That said, we went up and over Big Red at the weekend (youtube Big Red Dubai) so I'm not giving up easily!

Cheers

Hi All,

Just bought an 07 Sumatra Black Freelander 2 SE Manual and looking forward to a more relaxed driving experience, and maybe a little off-roading Very Happy I traded in my 08 BMW 320d Coupe against it though - a superb car in every respect except for its winter capability Sad

Graeme,
Welcome.
Car owned by Land Rover should be fine as it's an XS and was probably used by an employee. Land Rover Experience cars tend to be HSE and also autos.
