I have noticed mine a quite dim in the morning too, i put this down to the auto dimming features of the car, as the auto lights switch on also Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis |

Talking sat nav, is the factory fitted sat-nav any better than say a tom tom or nav man etc regarding directions, or anything else for that matter.

One thing you can not do with the fitted sat-nav is add extra points of interest, such as speed camera, accident blackspots etc. But you do have less chance of somebody nicking it, or at least trying to nick it because they see the bracket still attached to the screen. I think "Funsmarts" satnav installation is the best i have seen, by far Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis |

note that the TomTom 710 & 720 (maybe more models than this...?) fit snuggly in the console gap - meaning you avoid having to use the windscreen holder. |

My Freelander is in for its 1st service and some warranty sorting out to do, including the fact that the sat nav screen is so dim as to be useless for 10 minutes after start up. So we will see if the dealer / Land Rover will accept that its a problem or rely on "they all do that, mate!" Don`t drive faster than your angel can fly! |

I had a Disco Metropolis with colour sat nav and on very cold mornings screen used to flash back and white but if you switched off engine and restarted was ok |

Alex is the model a typo I have found websites refering to 12.301260-01 as freelander double din fascia. Are you sure this is not for the Frellander 1. Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis |
