Sat Nav

As the weather has got slightly colder here in the SWest-UK as the damp, warm, wet 'new climate change' winter sets in! I have noticed the Sat Nav is a little dim for the first 30 mins or so from first morning start and then reaches normal brightness forthe rest of the day. I have played with the options and settings but it still seems to not like a rest in the cold. Its no great issue, just wondered if others have seen this happen.

This is the only issue after 4 months motoring, so I ain't cryin!

I have noticed mine a quite dim in the morning too, i put this down to the auto dimming features of the car, as the auto lights switch on also Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Same here it seems to get worse as it gets colder. it`s the same with and without lights.
Then again it may just be that its more gray this time of year and has all ways been there but is more noticeable

Talking sat nav, is the factory fitted sat-nav any better than say a tom tom or nav man etc regarding directions, or anything else for that matter.
Apart from the looks of the thing of course.

One thing you can not do with the fitted sat-nav is add extra points of interest, such as speed camera, accident blackspots etc.

But you do have less chance of somebody nicking it, or at least trying to nick it because they see the bracket still attached to the screen.

I think "Funsmarts" satnav installation is the best i have seen, by far Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

I am having problems with my satnav, car went in during November, garage said it was ok.
However yesterday I had an important appointment at Derby Hospital, you guessed it the satnav went silly.
I have spoken to my garage and he will talk to L/R about the problem, my answer is change the unit, a lot of feet dragging at presnt. Any other members having problems with sanav? David

note that the TomTom 710 & 720 (maybe more models than this...?) fit snuggly in the console gap - meaning you avoid having to use the windscreen holder.

My Freelander is in for its 1st service and some warranty sorting out to do, including the fact that the sat nav screen is so dim as to be useless for 10 minutes after start up. So we will see if the dealer / Land Rover will accept that its a problem or rely on "they all do that, mate!" Don`t drive faster than your angel can fly!

Re dim sat nav...

All LCD's have to "warm-up". My DIS and radio took 1-2secs between changes on the screen to show them, and even then the change was a 1980's style blur effect during transitions (-3 this morning). Whistle

Alpine, Pioneer or other audio system instead the original

Hi
meanwhile I got the dash board 2DIN console adapter
from Pioneer to install any 2DIN audio system. The
connection to the steering wheel control should work
with all available systems.
But has anybody an idea where to get an adapter
or device to add the original mounted rear parking
sensors? Due to this I have to choose which system
has to be bought.

Thanks a lot.
Gerald

@Gerald,

do you happen to have any part numbers for the Fascia and Steering Wheel Adapter? And maybe any pictures as well?

I was given this Pioneer part number (13.301260-01) for the Double-Din Fascia, but where I live, no dealer was able to get this for me.

Thanks, Very Happy
Alex

Alex is the model a typo I have found websites refering to 12.301260-01 as freelander double din fascia.

Are you sure this is not for the Frellander 1. Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis
