United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 SE Manual Sumatra Black

Chaps i have no problem organising an event / get together in the future, whether it’s the 4th / 5th or what ever, it doesn’t mean that nobody else can organise one, I’m quite happy for someone else to step up to the mantle, the reason they started was just for a bit of a social get together, have a laugh and to put faces to some of the strange names..

So if you want to meet and have a good laugh, do something about it, there was only 5 of us at the first meet just about a year ago, and if someone organises something that I’m interested in I’ll come along, whether its Top, Middle of Bottom of the UK

its something i have always thought of, but it would be very expensive, the Musee Memorial de la Bataille de Normandie is at Bayeux is 4 hours drive from Calais and has one of the British war graves opposite it

On the way though you'll pass by
The Guns of Mount Canisy
Merville gun battery museum
Atlantic wall museum
Site Hillman (18 Concrete Bunkers)
Musée Radar (Radar museum)
Batterie de Longues-sur-mer (Longues-sur-mer gun battery)

Amongst Others

The logistics of planning such a trip will be a nightmare Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Not easy but not a nightmare, all the places mentioned are in a fairly near proximity of each other. We would need to organise either ferry or the tunnel and drive down to our destination with a night or two stay over.

It would take someone special to organise it but what a great get together and commemoration, not limited either so good for singles, wives and family. Thumbs Up

Been to most of those places a few years ago, it was a good holiday, a bit far for a fl2/RRS meet though.

We went to the huge American cemeteries on utah beach. the British cemeteries tend to be smaller and more widespread and while kept in good order are not finely manicured like the American ones.
Also visited pegasus bridge with the cafe and a museum, this is where the local cafe owners supplied the paras with champagne after they landed on D-day

pointe du hoc is worth a visit to, American rangers fighting the germans whilst climbing a sheer cliff, only to find the big guns at the top were fake

I do how ever have an open offer of a free house in Bayeux, owned by the chap that keeps his tanks etc on my farm. At work
