Hhhhmmmm it's good to read these things Very Happy now when they say it's going to be -10 I know that's pretty cold but will it bring along a lot of snow? Last year I set off out at 7am and the temp on the dash read -10, out and about that day the temp never got above -3 and when I got back home about 5pm is was back down at -10 and thats here in lancs! It didn't snow that day or for a few days, cold because of clear skies! No snow Evil or Very Mad

True but couple that to the dipping temperatures, aforementioned bad winter predictions and the fact that we are 1 month away from the anniversary of the major snowfall and that gives rise to some eager anticipation Thumbs Up LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

I have known young children get less excited about snow than you Doctor. Although it is nice to have a capable car, I would still rather see less snow than in the last two years. The cold snap brings great hardship to many people, death to far too many and makes "prisoners in their own homes" of the old.

Agreed, for the few days/weeks of excitement it costs the country millions of pounds, plus the misery for the less fortunate. Bring on the sun with hot, balmy days and young ladies with very little on. Thumbs Up

Totally agree with the thoughts of E Yorkshire and Wizking, most of us know the capabilities of our Freelander’s and when the conditions call for it we know that it will always get us out of most situations. Yes it’s lovely to see the Christmas card picture of crisp blue skies with snow on the ground, but in reality for a lot of people it turns into a nightmare.

Bus are cancelled and the majority of the elderly cannot get out to buy food or even pay their bills, and the people they rely on cannot get to them because of the conditions, schools are closed( Stupid Health Safety Rules) So parents have to make last minute arrangements Hospitals and other emergency services can be short staffed because people can’t’ get in to work.

Mrs Toeknee is a nurse and luckily I was able to get her to work every day when it was really bad, the problem been is that she had to work extra hours on an already long shift to cover for those people who couldn’t get in to work.

The country comes to a virtual standstill and costs millions of pounds, so yes enjoy your Snow Tyres and I hope they work well for you, we all know how bad you want it to snow, think the discussion started way back in the summer, along with the multiple threads yea Baby !

I wondered when someone would say something sensible, I don't need snow to know that i have capable car, and i really don't need another big gas bill etc , i'm sure my nurses partner would prefer to be able to work as a builder and get paid rather than have to stay at home and not get paid,
I know it's a shame that the infrastructure of this country can't cope with snow, but it can't and that's that,
The knock on effect of another hard winter costs all of us very dear, It would suit me fine if it never snowed again.

In all seriousness guys don't get me wrong here. Valid points made about the cost and impact on the elderly etc and I don't look forward to snow just so that I can plough through it in the FL2 whilst others get stuck.

I have always liked snow even when I had a Fiesta ST which wasn't good at all in snow. I do however care about people such as the aforementioned elderly etc and this summer I decided to join Peak 4x4 response who are a group of volunteers and will go out to aid the police and NHS etc in getting to stranded people or getting medical supplies to the elderly and giving 'essential staff' lifts to work amongst other things.

I may end up disliking it for some reason as there are some members on here who dislike such groups and say it is a waste of time etc
