Build date for my FL2 GS with winter pack has been moved from 5th to 11th October. Delivery scheduled for 24th. Is it normal for that many working days between build and delivery?

I could do even better than that; still have the 1986 Austin Rover brochure for my original Montego estate AND my old man's MG Maestro EFi Rolling Eyes

It makes me laugh when people think that the 150bhp TD4 might need more power; you don't know the meaning of "needs more power" until you've tried taking a partially laden, 86 bhp, 1.6 Montego estate through the Hardknott and Wrynose passes in Cumbria! Rolling Eyes Laughing

We ordered 5th Aug and the dealer told us yesterday it is slated for delivery around 20 Oct. I have rung every week for updates. He probably thinks I am a pain in the a**** but he has the deposit and we are paying cash with no p/x. Too many dealers have the attitude that they are doing you a favour and you should be beholden to them.

Dealer rang lunchtime to say our TD4 HSE has been delivered. Well under his original estimate of 12-16 weeks. Could have it Saturday but arranged to collect on Monday as we are away at a reunion this weekend. Andy

Unless you've ordered something extra special I'd be seriously unimpressed and would be asking the Dealer to explain when he actually placed the order, why it is taking so long, when it is going to arrive and what extras he's going to throw in for keeping you waiting so long.

No discounts as no stock available

For the first time in 6 years I will not be replacing my car at 2 years old. Dealer stated that there are no new cars stock piled and all build dates until March 2012 are taken.

When I asked about discounts and offers there are none.

If I want a new Freelander it will be built to order and the P/X will not be valued until the new car is being built.

I had no problem back in the summer when I bought a new fiesta titanium discounted from £16.5k to £12k. So is it just Land Rover?

Looks like my car is staying for a long time as I’m very happy with it.

Land Rover are doing fine but my guess is they are all going abroad. What future for the home market? Fewer dealers? A Land Rover owner since 1988

From a 1974 series III to a 12MY XS FL2 with help of a 1995 D1, 1996 D1, 2005 D3, 2007 D3 and a 2009 FL2.

England

It was said on Friday that 80% of the Halewoood production is destined for overseas, it was also said that three Evoques are built against one Freelander, but from what was seen I would have said it was more like five or six Evoques to one Freelander. From what was seen coming down the line it was one Freelander followed by five or six Evoques, at no point did I see two Freelanders together on the line.
