Alive Tuning Remaps

Some of you may have seen on the BabyRR website, that Alive Tuning have now sucessfully remapped the Evoque SD4. http://babyrr.com/forum/Thread-Evoque-Remapping-by-Alive

We have also remapped our first 2011MY Freelander 2 SD4 Automatic just last week, since the communications have only just been made available by our tuning tool manufacturers.

Of course, Alive have been remapping Freelanders for many years now, and fortunately the 11MY is not too dissimilar to the previous models. This has made the tuning process pretty easy for us, and the results we've seen so far have been impressive.

That's interesting Thumbs Up
As you know the Aisin Auto box is designed for a maximum of 450Nm torque and in standard tune the SD4 puts 420Nm through it. Does your tune limit the torque available so as not to cause premature wear/breakage Question

I've added an additional 60Nm requested torque, which I believe will be just fine with this gearbox. It's only about 7% over their rated maximum, and there will be a much wider margin of reserve built into them.

If you want a +20 or +30Nm cap on the remap, that's not a problem. Wink

Everyone uses their car differently, and although it was nice to push for big power and torque gains to see what could be achieved, it doesn't mean I have to give that much extra in every remap.

junior,
How has the clutch coped with the extra power?
I've had a manual for a few years now and have always been a bit worried about how strong the clutches are.

Because manuals can handle by default only 380 Nm.
And because of that in the engine ECU you have a torque trunctation programmed for 1st and reverse.
If Superchips didn't take that into account...

No problem with the clutch, I presume it was changed at 26k (16mths) with the gearbox, it did smell occasionally hill starting but I never towed or had any weight in the car and it was still fine at 40mths 75k when I sold the car.
