United Kingdom 2011 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Rimini Red

Nothing to report on mine - did two 25 minute motorway runs on Sunday and no problems.

I'm hoping that this was just a blip.

How long did the replacement take - is it a sit and wait job or leave it for the day? There's always a way forward!

Not sure about how long it took to replace the sensor and recalibrate.. The first time, I dropped the car off Friday afternoon - and was told they wouldnt have time to start working on it until Monday. Got the call to pick the car up Monday lunch time - so possibly a sit and wait job.

The second time they took a bit longer and with the extended test drive took a couple of days. Wouldnt have liked to sit and wait for that - although the chocolate from the vending machine was rather tasty.

It's done it again. Left it sat all day then wouldn't start up first press of the button.

Limped home with reduced everything. Booked it in at the dealers today and they say it needs a new dpf sensor (or was that an echo) and they don't have one in stock.....mmmmmm

Ordered part should be here (dealers) tomorrow (Wednesday) and fitted same day.

Service dept offered me the car back overnight which I was surprised at - they'd obviously not driven it.

Hopefully it will be ready for a trip to the ancestral home on Friday.

McP - can I put you on standby for a lift to Halewood??? There's always a way forward!

Hi
I have a Freelander 2 and having problems starting car and it goes into limp mode with info fault showing Reduced Engine Performance.
Symptoms
Go over 3000rpm
Car goes into limp mode. This can be reset but stopping and starting but I have had problems starting. This isn't a power/battery problem however I thought it was initially. Taking key out helped slightly but I just keep trying to start till it goes. Car sounds dead and clicks when push button but eventually starts.
Is there a way to trick system without clearing errors.
I have found if I keep below 3000 then it will start each time.
I am on 79000 and looked up and DPF filter should be cleaned at 80000 service.
We have had the trouble for a while and haven't got to the problem probably because hasn't been to see LR dealer as over priced... £192/hr just to diagnose
A friend told me the wrong oil in an engine could clog the DPF. Does this sound right? Is this a DPF issue? Hope someone can help. Thx

You really need to have the fault codes read to give a starting point to work out what is wrong! Even a cheap code reader can be useful. However it sounds like you have more than 1 issue to sort! The non starting problem sounds like a starter solenoid issue which is fairly common and a search on the forum with that title should bring up lots of info. Luckily it is an easy fix. The reduced performance could be something as simple as a blocked fuel filter, again lots of info on the forum. Some more info like engine, mileage, last service etc might help others give advice but the fault codes would be top of that list! Good luck!
