United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Manual Stornoway Grey
Do I or Don't I?

After 4 years of ownership, I am 'considering' selling the FL2. Now the logical step would be to buy another, but an SD4 HSE.

But I refuse to pay between £32k and £34k for a near on year old SD4 HSE. It's good when you think about the residuals being so good, but it's a big jump to replace mine and I see no point in buying a pre-facelift car.

I was in at my dealers on Saturday and they have 3 HSE SD4's, the one I like is a Feb 2011 '60' SD4 in black with bitch glass, 19's and ivory Windsor leather. It's up for £33950 with 9000 miles on the clock. (Ex LR)

They offered me £16000 for mine in PX, and possibly £750 to £1000 off the new one if I did the deal in September. So I also started looking at a Mercedes ML320 CDi Sport. 59 plate with 11000 miles on for just shy of £30k. The Merc is a fantastic car to drive but it didnt have the LR feel.

I then got home and gave my FL2 a mega detail and thought what am I doing, it is pretty much perfect condition wise, less a few stone chips, bought and paid for since the day we bought it.?

What should I do? Or have I pretty much answered my own question? Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

A friend of mine has just picked up an 11 plate sd4 Hse with 5000 miles on it for £27000, apparently the dealer needed the sale in august. So it's worth shopping around a bit. But would you be happy with an sd4? Or would you then want more?

Stick with what you have. You know the history, like the drive and more importantly it will cost you nothing!

Have some extra long test drives or see if you can have it for an afternoon, might help make your mind up.

I had a VW tiguan back in spring as a hire car, it was R-Line with lots of toys, after the initial oh wow this is cool, and started to use it as a daily car, commuting, shopping etc, I soon missed the land rover and couldn't wait to get back in it.

I havent managed to find one SD4 HSE under £30k with bitch glass and 19's. In fact I havent found an SD4 HSE under £30k full stop. If I did it would probably be decision made.

An SD4 would suit be fine, after all it is the Mrs car as I have my CLK for every day use.

I have to weigh up my options.

Mine car looks 100% like an SD4 HSE - No Benefit in buying an SD4
My car has 190bhp just like an SD4 - But in the real world, the SD4 is for sure quicker.
SD4 is an auto, so that would be a big benefit.
Mine is in amazing condition, so why give that to someone else.

So would I be spending the best side of £15k on top of mine to get a car that would have low mileage, be newer and have an auto box.?

If someone told me where there was a decent SD4 HSE for under £30k then I would for sure be interested.

I did think of the Sport LE Nick, some of the bits you lose out on are worth it, but I could not lose the arm rests. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

I was under the impression that 2007 models had a 160 bhp 2.2 litre diesel engine.
The change to SD4/TD4 was introduced for the 2011 MY with 190 bhp and 150 bhp respectively.

The TD4 has the same motor as the older version but now with DPF fitted which reduces the bhp from 160 to 152.
Dont know were the 150 bhp figure comes from Question 2007 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Manual with Premium Pack & Moonroof.

The newer SD4 engine is 190bhp, the newer TD4 manual is now 150bhp but has more torque so you don't miss the loss of bhp Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

A LR dealer in Aylesbury has an SD4 HSE for £31,490 with bitch glass, its a bit cheaper than other SD4 HSE's as its unfortunately in black Whistle

A quick search on Autotrader turns up just 2 SD4 HSE's for under 30K (one of which is a private sale and open to offers...)
