Massive choice of Winter/Snow tyres now available in the UK, but we are already getting lots of "no stock, no date" from the wholesalers.

I have no view on Vredestein, or indeed any other tyre that i have no personal experience of or that is not featured in independent tests. I use many different tyres for both my cars and motorcycles. But here we are discussing the FL2: this is her Ladyship's vehicle and it runs the factory fitted Goodyear Wrangler M&S for 3 seasons and for winter - Continental. |

Just had a look at the tyres on the freelander they are Michelin latitude hp. Looking at the tread pattern they don't look right good for mud or snow, anyone used these in snow? Swmbo's car, and she says even though it might be ok, she still wants me to drive her around in the D3, although I'll be putting the MTR's on soon, I know they are to be primarily used for mud but they are better than the 20 inch rims an tyres on at mo! |

I've got Lattitude tour HP's. The only problem i had was hard compacted snow where stopping seemed to take an age which you'd expect from any road summer tyre..

Does anyone know why LR fit various tyres as standard to the FL2? Is it to do with wheel size?

Probably down to whichever manufacturer is offering the best deal at the time. Both mine came with Continentals although the first one had a Wrangler full sized spare on a steel rim while the second had a full sized Continental on an alloy rim. |

I fitted a set of Vredestein Wintrac 4 Xtreme last year and they are great, massive differences over the scorpions I have fitted for the summer.

They could have shown some different types of car for the tests rather than just the beemer.

Well it's gonna cob it down with snow because I have pap tyres on the freelander! If it gets stuck I'll just fetch the D3! they don't need changing yet but I will see what they are like anyway and decide what to get next time. Swmbo says Im not allowed to buy another set of wheels like I have for the D3! |

The F2 is a very capable 4x4 as I am sure you all know and will do very well on standard tyres in the right hands, add winter tyres and it make a huge difference, you can look at it like an extra insurance. |
