Electric Seat Adjustment

Now have new SD4 (see other post). The manual shows the electric driver's seat having both height adjustment - up and down (rear vertical arrows on adjuster) and bolster adjustment (front vertical arrows). My car does not seem to have the height adjustment - the rear arrows on the adjuster are missing. Has there been an alteration to the spec? I hope this is not a cost saving measure, because I find height adjustment very useful, particularly as in view of a shoulder injury I have and the extra adjustment this gives me in relation to the position of seat to the height of the steering wheel. A previous X-Trail had this, and even my Forester had manual height adjustment. Adjusting the bolster just tilts the seat and is of no help.

I am sure I have driven a FL2 with height adjustment. Can anyone throw any light on this?

8 way adjustments are only availible with the premium leather option IIRC

manuals often show things the doesn't have, saves printing 10 different manuals Thumbs Up Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Brochure decribes 6 way adjustment as standard for leather and eight way for Premium leather option, 6 being Up/down, Forward/backward and backrest up/down, the 8 will give more control over the seat base ie; the tilt function you describe.

I'm on manual pleb seats, but the manual control raises the whole base. I would expect the electric option to do the same?

6 way Electric seats have 2 controls. One controls forward/backwards and raise/lower and the other controls seat back adjustment. On my XS with electric seats the two switches on the drivers side clearly show which adjustments they do.

The point I was making is that my seats do not have up/down movement. The front of the seat base will tilt, but I can't see the point of this - I just want the seat base to go up and down whilst keeping the base horizontal, i.e. no tilt. The adjuster has one set of arrows missing when compared with the picture in the manual.

I think npinks has probably sussed it in that it is probably only available with premium leather. In my opinion it's a bit of penny pinching by Land Rover - they have omitted this option from the "poverty spec" leather seats to encourage people to pay £1225 for the premium leather which I think look and feel more like vinyl than leather.

I had an extended test drive in a demo car with premiun leather at my local dealer and I must have assumed that my HSE would have the up /down adjustment from using this car. Of course, it perhaps explains why dealers tend to have demo cars that are fully loaded as it helps to sell even the lower models. I will visit the dealer to check.

I would definately check that you don't have a rogue seat? ie the wrong motor fitted or both motors fitted and the correct switch for your model that should only have one motor, I hope that makes sense. manufacturers sometimes fit what they have to a higher spec without actually enabling the function.

Good luck with the dealer Thumbs Up

No real need to consult the dealer. Only available with premium pack. Read my post here for confirmation.
