Gentlemen
Many thanks for your inputs to date - keep them coming in as it adds strength her Ladyship's claim for replacements.

The greater (to state 60 is better than only the 6 so far) numerical "exchanges" I can report to LR Switzerland, the absurdity of their refusal to act is revealed as indefensible and improper.

My drivers side is very worn but there is no damage to the seat belt at all.

Passenger side is showing signs of slight wear but no dmaage to belt. 2002 Honda VFR800

Both were changed on mine, from the beginning, and mine are color coded, meaning the lip is the same color as the b-pillar trim, not like on the picture posted here.

My drivers side has two distinct grooves but seat belt ok. Passenger side fine.

Trim replaced under warranty yesterday.
Driver's side showed greater wear (though nothing like the wear on other cars I’ve had which have shown the same problem) than the passenger's but since the design is quite different both have to be replaced if the job is to be done properly. As Alex has said, replacement is colour matched to existing trim.

The replacements are a great improvement and the belts run very nicely through them.

Thanks for the update wdw - the battle here is ongoing - so the greater the number of folks that report theirs have been replaced under warranty the more incredulous and untenable LR Switzerland's position on this matter becomes.

Just bought my freelander 2 and found this forum.

I have the wear described on drivers side, however my FR2 is 3.1/2 years old.
Was this something that was only replaced on request of the customer or should it have been replaced by the dealer anyway.

Car was serviced at a main dealers for all its services.

It wasn't an official recall but an approved warranty repair if the customer raised the issue as a problem.
Might be worth approaching the dealer who did the servicing to see if they will replace under warranty.
You might have to quote the Sale of Goods Act and not fit for purpose to get any response.

Thanks rchrdleigh for the reply.
Unfortunately the dealer is 150 miles away so I will probably wait until it goes in for a service at my local main dealer and see if I can talk them into changing it FOC or at least at a reduced price.
