Yes removing the rear bumper is easy - it's on here somewhere, if not I have it.

I tow an ifor Williams trailer behind mine, and it sits fine. That's with just a normal swan neck!

All later trailer chassis should be manufactured to the same height, I think your problem would be the 'laden height' of your vehicle and no, I have never seen a multi height plate for a Freelander. |

Thanks I know it sat too low on the D3 with the swan neck - and that was when empty - as was the D3 - ( I will also check the docs for the trailer when I get home form hols ) Thanks for the info on the Multi height - tow bar - - Think I will have a look round at the dealers and see what bars they have fitted - Now to find the post for removing the rear bumper Hugh Disco 3 HSE Defender Puma 110 Freelander 2 HSE |

I just went out and measured mine, it's 440 mm with an empty car so it would bring it into directive spec with luggage/passengers and fuel. It's a removable 'Witter' by the way, hope you sort it. |

I fitted a Witter detachable with a traditional flange(rather than swan neck) so I can detach when I need rear clearance ascending and when fitted I can raise and lower with a drop plate if needed. The Thule bike rack bracket remains on the flange. It works well for me and is a well known robust make which is easy to attach and detach.

I have a non-detachable Witter towbar fitted with a fixed flange towball. I have just used it to tow a twin axle Ifor Williams double horsebox 60 miles to pick up a pony. Towbar height is spot on. Neither the tyres at the front or the back axle of the trailer appeared unduely weighed down. I've got 13 pin dedicated electrics fitted, but a 13/7 adapter did the job to power the trailer lights.

Witter make a detachable tow bar, which also has a bolted on ball hitch. you can fit an adjustable plate to vary
