Land Rover are very clear that they expect the Freelander and the Evoke to compete in very different markets. They expect that 90% of the customers for the Evoke will be new to the brand.

I'm looking forward to going to the launch in September but I know one thing for certain; it might (or might not) look great, but there is no way on earth that I would replace my Freelander with one! The Freelander is massively practical, while the Range Rover is for the fashion conscious who don't own any practical shoes or any jeans (or socks for that matter) with holes in them! The Range Rover will hurt the sales of Audi, BMW, Lexus and the like - not the Freelander.

I just don't think I'll like the kind of Audi / BMW & Lexus 4x4 driving people it'll attract, that's all!

There are at least 6 convertees from F2 to Evoque from this forum.......................... How can carbon have a footprint, it has no feet?

Interesting.

Mind you, if I'd had the budget for a top spec HSE Freelander, I wouldn't have bought a Freelander in the first place! Like many cars, the top spec version usually represents the poorest VFM and you are better off getting a more basic version of something that's fundamentally a bit nicer. On that basis, I'd rather have a poverty spec Disco than a top spec Freelander (if only it weren't for the fuel consumption....)

On the M40 this morning and transporters full of Evoques pouring out of somewhere ???, appeared to be in the Gaydon area.
Assume they are on the way to dealers for the launch day, still unsure about the low rear roof design but dealer I spoke to said the floor pan had been lowered so head room not compromised. Freelander 2 GS 2011(facelift)

Evoke could well spell good news for true FL devoties, surely be advance payment deals will extend across the range and hopefully some spec upgrades....

This happened of course with the RR sport when it arrived, LR insisted that it would be an entirely new niche area but of course lots of buyers came from RR and disco, along with granted quite a few from BM and Merc....
Still, a very good vehicle for LR but I'm not a fan, looking under the rear end tells you why...all that height but so much stuff to drag around underneath!

Could well be on their way to Gaydon. LRE Instructors are being trained on Evoke next week and LRE Centres are due to receive their first Evokes in early September.

All of the LRE cars will all be silver though. Beware 6 month old, low mileage, ex "Land Rover Management" cars in silver!

If rumours are to be believed not all LRE cars will be silver in future.

I saw a black one today near the local Marshals LR Garage and then noticed a white one outside the showroom.

I know its been mentioned that the Evoque will have an impact on the FL2 but surely it will have more of an impact on the FFRR and RRS? I mean how different are a 5 door Evoque, Range Rover Sport and Range Rover (other than price!)
