08 GS Audio unit - Is there a replacement that will play USB

Sorry if this is covered elsewhere, but I can't find it. I want to be able to play USB MP3 and USB stick tunes (NOT IPOD) through the audio unit WITH steering wheel control and view track info etc. The std unit only allows for extension spkr type playback (jack plug) so no control.

Is there a replacement head unit or any kit out there that will satisfy my requirements, without disabling rear parking sensors etc. This is my only real negative with the car, otherwise it has been a joy to drive from new. LR dealer can't answer my question, but I'm sure that somebody on here can.

Here's hoping! Was GS TD4 Auto, Privacy, Santorini with Tundra & Alpaca, Cold Climate Pack. Traded for Discovery Sport HSE Auto.

Answered my own question. Went along to Turnbulls (Car Audio) in Plymouth and it appears that the only solution is a Parrot MK19200 which would interface with existing unit, at about £500 fitted - which is a non starter. Was GS TD4 Auto, Privacy, Santorini with Tundra & Alpaca, Cold Climate Pack. Traded for Discovery Sport HSE Auto.

Try Kenwood. I got it installed and everything works except the clock on my dash. See my gallery for fitting. There's a new version of the unit out there now so it probably has even more features.

Parkingsensors need an adapter fitted but it is also a kenwood part.

Cost me like 9 euros more then the nav unit from LR, including the subwoofer and professional install.

Can even play youtube downloaded and converted musicclips wright from usb and use my steering wheel buttons to navigate through them.

There have been quite a few previous threads about replacing the factory fitted stereo with an aftermarket unit - giving all the wizzy features most people are looking for. There have even been some which can interface with the audio controls on the steering wheel.
