surley with modern technology some officers could of carried a powerful water gun with smart water that can ID them later

Absolutely - it exists, cheap (fool proof but maybe not average Plod proof) and should be immediately implemented Thumbs Up

Legal Defence: reasonable force your Honour in due of the mob of 20+ Yobos carrying baseball bats n sticks n bricks etc., intent on doing harm to my family.

Note: such an excuse is in the statute books and in the "Green Book".

Note 2: don't know what the Green Book is - ask "The Doctor" - if he really does know his law and has been paying attention at lectures Exclamation

Perhaps the police could drive a Marauder into the crowd to disperse them, like the one Hammond drove on Top Gear.

If the Marauder can hold it's own against some explosives which blew a Hummer to bits, I suspect it can handle some yobs with the combined IQ of a dandelion. Thumbs Up LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

In most counties when there is looting on mass, I thought the army shot them. white, black, red, yellow what ever the the skin there rapped in.
Why should inocent people have their lives and livelyhood destroyed for simply being in the wrong place at that time.
Just goes to show that we live in a nany state with too many do gooders. I remember the times when you wouldnt give an officer any lip or he would clip you up the side of your ear. Wheres the respect nowadays ?????????????????????????? Censored Censored

No problem, but with political correctness gone OTT, how can it be discussed when the news footage show the persons responsible for the looting, not even bothering to cover their faces, but we cannot describe them.

I'll finish on this. Censored

You can describe them accurately as a multiethnic gathering bent on destruction and theft. As it was.

Never heard of it and it's never been mentioned in lectures. Google throws up various results on it.

Interestingly, there was that incident recently where a man was arrested for murder having killed a member of a yob gang who broke into his house armed with machete's. The CPS did not take any action as he had acted in self defence in genuine fear for his own life and that of his family. The rest of the gang were charged with aggravated burglary and offensive weapons etc.

Chalk one up for the good guys. LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

I find it incredible that it is (I beleive) illegal to use water cannons in this country.

It is not illegal - it is just that the Home Office and the Police Federation currently find not evidence that it is truly effect as a dispersal tool. It is indiscriminate in use and cannot be guaranteed not to harm the innocent.

Baton rounds aka rubber bullets are on the agenda next if it gets worse. LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

Real bullets would be better, at least you would only have to shoot once. It's about time the ethnic minority was "thinned out" in this country:evil: ______________________

Never heard of "The Green Book" - my dear chap every legal practice has their "Green Book" library - reports case law precedent. Twisted Evil

Since when was Google the adjudicator of English law. Ask the Law Lords or the Supreme Court - not a bloody web search engine.

You'll not progress far at the Bar my dear chap if you defer to Google. First the Green Book, then move on challenging the County Court Magistrate and so on until you are no longer in deference to the Bench and continually saying "I'm obliged your Honour" Exclamation

Green book library, case reports etc of course. I thought you meant a specific book, you threw me there.

For example: Sym v Stretch (1936) 2 All ER 1237. This means volume 2 of the All England Law Reports starting at page 1237, reported in 1936. It's a defamation case which resulted in Lord Atkin's definition of a defamation.

Also, the 'v' does not mean versus. In civil cases it means 'and'. In criminal cases it means 'against'. R v Horncastle is spoken as The Crown against Horncastle. LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

I suspect by the time I reach that level of skill/knowledge (if I reach it), Silk will mean KC as opposed to QC! LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

No - it will be PC - The Peoples' Council if the detritus marauding the byways of Blighty are not checked in their ways within the next 72hrs.

I'm no fan of the House of Windsor but a Peoples' Republic is always the first step on the downward spiral to a brutal repressive dictatorial regime that has no time for human rights or the niceties of the due process of law. And under such regimes there's no QC, KC or PC - just the DC and kiss your a** goodbye.
