United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Manual Santorini Black
Gearbox no gears

Twice now while I have been driving the gearbox or selector has seized up solid, all I have been able to do is depress the clutch and freewheel to the side of the road. Both times it has been in town when I was driving very slowly. As soon as I come to a stop I am able to select a gear and carry on. Any ideas anyone please FL2 HSE Sumatra black with body kit

If as CG said do all the cable greasing and it has no effect then with Manual gear change:

Check out LR Symptom 505200 - SSM 44149 issued 26 April 2010
Ball pin that transmission cable attaches to on to the gear lever shift ilinkage (in transmission tunnel underneath gear lever) is torque to correct value of 20Nm +/- 3Nm as this may have worked loose.

Official LR approved workshop staff are aware of this possible problem - an easy fix takes 30 mins in total.

Both me and SWMBO had this happen on our previous manual, it seems there is a solenoid on the gearbox to prevent you accidently selecting reverse, if it gets triggered it will lock the selectors and you have to come to a stop for it to reset it. This happened to us shortly after we bought it and this is what we were told at the dealer, may have been Censored but it sounded feasable, is it possible as you were going steady in traffic not giving it full concentration and triggered the solenoid Question
