I actually spoke to Landrover Customer Service this week, the person I spoke to said he would ask the technical department and call me back. He called back to say that Castrol Magnatec 5W-30 A1 was recommended to use or any that met the Ford Spec WSS-M2C913-B FL2 HSE Sumatra black with body kit |

As there is a conflict between the advise in the manual and the sticker under the bonnet I phoned LR Customer Services and asked what was the correct oil for the SD4 (with DPF)? The lady didn't know, neither was she aware of the conflicting advise and promised to send this information up the chain. She put me on hold while she tried to get an answer. After 5 mins she came back and the best she could do was tell me the bloke sitting next to her had an SD4 and he used Castrol Edge 5W/30. What a crap service!

Had my My11 T D4 serviced last week. The invoice states " 5w30 bulk oil" £51.12 plus vat. So no idea what they have put in! I suspect as its a good quality oil meeting the Ford spec we shouldn't worry too much about it. |

That is what is wrong, it could be the lowest possibe spec for engine. At just over £10 inc vat / litre I would like to know the exact spec for topping up. All FL2's (3) Gone

Any 5w 30, fully synthetic oil will do, so long as it meets WSS-M2C913-B spec. My dealer seems to alternate between Castrol Magnetec (which I used to use all the time until it got too expensive) and Unipart 5w 30. In my opinion, they are both as good as each other. It's the frequency of change that dictates the engine life Gone - TD4 XS Auto, Sumatra Black, Mud flaps and side strips, clear indicators, private plate, privacy glass |

Mine runs fine on Ford Formula "F". This is a full synthetic 5w/30 and meets the Ford/Land Rover specs.
