Having driven a TD5 Defender for many years, you would imagine that I wouldn't be bothered with noises! However, my new Freelander 2 has an annoying ticking noise coming from the nearside bulkhead area when I am accelerating or just cruising with some gas pedal on. When decelerating the noise is not there. It sounds like the tinkling of foil milk bottle tops. It's not loud, just annoying!!! It may be something to do with fuel pipes but has anybody else heard the same noises?

Have you checked for leaves in this area, they will give such a noise?

Thanks....I have opened up the engine bay, unclipped a plastic cover and can see an aluminium or galvanised box with what looks like fuel pipes going into them. There is no noise protection from this area through the bulkhead, it seems. No leaves though and the noise is only when either accelerating or cruising.

I may end up taking it back to the dealer, checking out other Freelanders and possibly fitting NVH stuff myself.
