Been lots of detailing and polishing talk going on recently so i thought i would let you know about a new DA product that come about which might be of interest to those who like the shine or been put off by the amount of work it entails

Recently i have been seeing a new format for using a dual action polisher from Meguiars, instead of using a traditional foam pad and polishing compound, Meguiars have developed at microfiber based system which is looking a lot more straight forward than the usual array of foam pads.

Basically you need a DA Machine ( i presume any brand would do), their new range of DA Microfiber Compound polish and DA Microfiber Finishing wax and the corresponding microfiber polishing pads 6" 5" & 3" dependant on what tight areas you'll be polishing (and the recommended backing plates for each pad size)

I have been waiting on a few reviews to see what the pro's think of this and it does seem to be getting good ones so thought i would post it here with a link to a few reviews and launch videos

I think i will end up ordering a few items from this range and giving this option ago, been a DA its less risky than a rotary, and looks to be faster than foam pads via a DA.

I'll just have to bring them home whilst she is at work and hide them away in the detailing shed, inside the garage

I would never use a polishing machine on my car!! Can't be elbow Greece and auto glym high definition wax! Just done my mates mr2 and it is clean and shiny than it was when it was new in 1996! Kinda an Epsom green colour

Sounds like you should really be on a very different forum! - suggesting having all those mags and centre spreads stored in a shed in a garage with all your waxs and polishes. I bet you spend a lot of time 'detailing'  2002 Honda VFR800

Question:

I don't mind a bit of a polish now and then, no expert by any stretch.

My car will have supagaurd treatment when it comes, what should I use to keep it looking its best? car will be heavily used, 2-3000 miles a month, mainly motorway.

Used loads of autoglym "pink" polish over the years, never really looked at much else, tend to wash n wax these days with Mer products. Don't think I will go extreme with clay and the like, plasticine is for making rude models not rubbing on cars!!

Any advice will be appreciated, its about time the garage was cleared of all the half tins of this, half a bottle of that.

What colour? There are various different bits and pieces, auto glym do some good stuff for darker colours and gloss protection too!

Indus Silver, .......29 cars and never had a silver one!!

I'll take a look at this. Like you, i'm a geek with paintwork, maybe more so cos my FL2 is black!!
Nowt wrong with looking after expensive toys.

By the way, 'er indoors found some dirty mags in my garage a few weeks ago.
They were 1968 edition of 'practical motorist'. Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.
