my wife has a Toyota IQ...............65mph/3 years free servicing/5 years warranty/no road tax in over 40 years of driving I've never seen a car so cheap to run !! not a lot of room, really a 2+2, but great around town, will turn on a sixpence, and even good on the motorway. Iain |

That's about the same as mine which is an auto. There is quite a difference between the manual and auto MPG. I miss the lockup feature the 4 speed Borg Warner box had on my old discovery and R/ Rover. On a motorway there was virtually no difference in economy between the manual cars and autos as the 'fluid flywheel' locked to give no slip once you rerached 54 mph. Having said that, the 6 speed auto box on the FL2 is superb in every other way and I am willing to forgo the drop in economy for that. I guess the trip meter is not too accurate so I have kept a log of fuel usage over the last 10k miles and it gives an average of 35.9 mpg. This includes a few hundred miles of what CG would call anti-social behaviour, with the mansion-on-wheels behind. Not quite as bad as I was expecting. |
