True but I could not buy one.

It will be interesting to see what LR do with the FL3, assuming there will be one. Will it be Evoque-ish perhaps? LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

Regardless of views on front end styling, I don't see how there is anything positive to say about the chrome a Censored e. If I had to buy a MY11, I would go to great lengths to modify the boot back to MY10 style.

Then you must do it and be true to your beliefs - well done.

Now - when you trade it in you must take the financial hit for having the wrong back end. However, if you then alter your arse to conform with the MY11 standard to recoup your outlay you are a tart . QED It's easy.

It's only money., and when you are off road, up your your chrome in mud - who gives a s...t!

United Kingdom 2011 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Auto Bali Blue

Having owned the pre-facelift and now the new one and comparing them, the pre-facelift front end looks heavily dated (sorry), the new front brings the FL2 bang upto date - infact it even looks tidier than my gaffers RRS front end!!! (his words not mine!!). I was one of the sceptics with the chrome arse piece, it looked tacky but now i like it, although if LR had 'LAND ROVER' engraved on it then it would have looked even better.

All cars when new are delibrately toned down to allow a facelift to be created 4 years down the line, like some have said it keeps the car in the limelight and brings in more custom (albeit most pre-facelifters trading up!) Now - 2017 BMW X3 M Sport Carbon Black
Gone - 2014 BMW X3 M Sport Space Grey, faultless!
Gone - 2011 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Bali Blue with xenons
Gone - 2008 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Rimini Red with bodykit

Actually, I think the MY10 and older makes the MY11 look heavily dated. This is because the original FL2 looked similar to the later shaped FL1 which had a more aggressive stance. The MY11 is all soft and neat like the original FL1. LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

Belgium 2009 Freelander 2 TD4_e XS Manual Santorini Black

I for one wasn't impressed with the new front-end, but seeing a few driving by I must admit it's growing on me. I would not trade in my car just for the new look.

Here in Belgium the car is still kinda rare so only LR owners would notice the diffence. Most people here mistakenly think the FL2 is a RRSport somehow anyway so it still is quite the looker.

I do agree it's a more descrete look this facelift, making it blend in more I guess. They should have brought the lighting to current standards and worked with more durable leds in my opinion. Why the still use these old-style lightbulbs I don't understand. Maybe that will be the new feature next time...

United Kingdom 2011 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Fuji White

Not a lover of the chrome strip, however I think it's ok on White and silver cars, but stands out to much on the darker colours, has any one had the strip wrapped yet in a body colour or even in black, thought about doing it to our new one when we get September, but having seen a few White ones I might live with it for a while, as for the front, I love it,

I wonder if "LAND ROVER" could be etched into the surface of the arse piece, might get our graphics bods to try and create a stencil when it arrives, not sure if it is pretty flat or curved, maybe worth a try.

Personally Facelift is a huge improvement, would never have bought a pre face lift model, plug ugly face piece Rolling with laughter

You clearly prefer the ugly wimpy MY11. So soft looking it makes Kia's look tough. MY10 is more aggressive and tough looking. Much better Mr. Green LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

Excellent, glad you will get use out of it off road. I bought mine new in April 2010 and it didn't take me long to try it out off road. I have been off roading a few times now and am going again soon in the peak district. Here are some of my off roading pics:

That's "ugly wimpy...soft looking" MY11 as opposed to "deformed looking" MY10 I suppose Razz Laughing

Good to see your off road pictures. I'm trying to get back to complete the crossing of Bootle Fell before I leave The Lakes - family allowing Rolling Eyes

I started to do the rutted track section of Bottle Fell, but I didn't continue as I was still missing a decent jack in the tool kit (I've fixed that now, with a high lift trolley jack in the boot) and I'd have felt a complete prat getting stuck on the moors with a flat Rolling Eyes I'd feel a lot happier to do it with a mate too...

I've got to say it could get completely addictive taking it off road Thumbs Up Definitely going for a set of All Terrains when the M+S's wear out and (at 30,000 miles+ a year) that shouldn't take too long Very Happy
