I don't know if this is of any interest but I found the following link Tyre test ratings, which is specifically for, as the American's say, Light Suv's.

Ive just spoken to vredestein and there are some tyres coming into the country this week.
Most of the stock is preordered but there are some available.
Vredestein recommended speaking to Chris at http://tyremen.myshopify.com/products/2356...-xtreme-xl or call them on 08456 807 808.

Thought I would post up Transport Canada's official Winter Tires selection. These tires meet or exceed the severe winter driving conditions rating:

Just updated our canadian listing of approved winter tires plus reviews through Canadian context. Keep in mind that our winters on the 49th parallel are vastly different than the winters up near the 70th parallel. Armchair Commando

When we can pass on a saving we will as in this latest price, sorry.

Depends on where they come from, EU or UK.

Could be the next price goes up if we have to pay more.

But at least we pass on the saving. Thumbs Up

Have just returned from Northern France in my LR2, encountering very heavy snow. My Pirelli Ice and Snow tyres gave fantastic traction; and had it not been for other vehicles dancing around the auto routes then my journey would have been like a summer outing !!

However, I also have a set of Land Rover Wheel chains specially designed for the Freelander; which I will need to take with me on a trip to Switzerland next February. These are very difficult to fit, and require each of the front wheels to be lifted. I dread the thought of struggling in adverse weather conditions, trying to fit these. Has anyone any experience of this problem; and whether or not I would be able to get proffesional assistance in an emergency. Many thanks. John

The LR recommended chains for the FL2 are Spyke Spiders and do not require the wheels to be raised, they are just fited over the tyre and the ground level portion just runs on to the tyre automatically as you drive away. What chains do you have?

I know it is a odd time of year (and its bleedin' 'ot) but this applies to other types of tyres as well.
I am looking to get a spare set of 16" steel rims for off road/winter tyres and have found a couple of sites with calculators to get the right profiles to maintain the rolling diameter/spedo accuracy.

The question is what spec they should be to fit and prevent fouling, i.e. PCD, boss diameter and offset and where to get them?

Incidentally I used to fit chains by laying them over the tyres with the join down and roll the car forward half a rev. Same way to fit tank tracks Rolling with laughter Prog rock is cool! Smile
