I have a 2010 HSE with DAB, and have used it extensively mostly for sport (radio Radio 5, Sports Extra etc).

I don't get DAB, I live in a rural location and have no DAB stations to listen to? Can anyone change my opinion on what I see as a useless feature.

DAB1 and DAB2 are the same as having FM1 and FM2, basically more places to store your favourite channels

DAB is compressed to blazes, so while it may seem clearer, it's because the tonal range available is less. Listen to an accoustic or classical track on DAB then on FM and you'll get more range from the FM transmission. All relative, as both are pants compared to MP3 at 128kbps or higher, or FLAC/Lossless/CD.

@triple7 - I was in your camp re:DAB for a long time, I'm also rural. I had a DAB add-on to try in a previous car, and it was unusable - dropped out 10 times on my way home. I wanted to try it for BBC Radio5 Sports extra as this is only available on DAB and had Test Match Special - my last two cars VW and FL2 had no long wave.

is DAB only on new model? I have an 07 model and its got digital written below FM on the FM button just wondering how to find out if its fitted, going to go out now to have a play with it, going to press the auto button and see what happens |

DAB became available in late 07. The 'digital' on the FM button refers to digital tuning not DAB. To find if you have DAB press the FM button and it should show FM1, FM2 and if DAB fitted it will then go to DAB1 and DAB2 before cycling back to FM1. |

@Alanbgt - we have a 2010MY HSE and exactly the same thing happened - intermittantly the DAB radio option would disappear and if you press the FM/DAB button it just flips between FM 1&2. In fact I'll bet that if you do get DAB back one day and leave it there, next time it breaks you'll actually get a silent stereo system giving the impression its turned off, however its not and pressing the FM switch gets you to FM radio again.
