I am after some fairly cheap speakers for my spare tv. I bought an LG tv a couple of years ago for my spare room to play my xbox and occassionally a music dvd / film. The only problem is that the built-in speakers are dire so am after some fairly cheap (£40ish) speakers that I can simply plug in.

Or buy some computer type speakers (powered type) and plug into the headphone socket of the TV. |

I've got a pair of 'Altec Lansing' (no, I never heard of them either) speakers from PCWorld plugged into our main tele's headphone socket, 20 watts a piece and it transformed the audio.

I doubt you'll get 5.1 surround out of the headphone socket... |

That's right, stereo is the best you'll get from the headphone socket of the TV. |

You're just filthy rich Shilen quoted
and the cheapest way is powered PC speakers out the headphone socket, all you need is in the box. |

I have a set of Altec Lansing 5.1, which you can connect through USB or normal sound cables.
