Exactly the same, great minds think alike, unfortunately what I now need is a device that will automatically shut the door down, reversing out with it up was not pretty Sad (not me, swimbo)

Australia 2011 Freelander 2 SD4 SE Auto Stornoway Grey

Quite right about the All-Terrain Tyre option at purchase! Is this a softy or an All Terrain vehicle - hence the packaging options? Whilst an off-road fit-out may rarely be taken up by subsurban mothers taking their kids to school (watch those massive speed bumps!) , the options kits differentiates the FL2 from a BMW X3, Q5, XTrail etc etc because it really can go off-road. Even if nobody takes up the option, it should still be offered, as it differentiates the Fl2 from the rest. This is fundamental branding and it should include A/T tyres.

I originally wanted a manual (110 Kw definitely not enough !) with leather trim; but had to trade up to an auto SD4 SE to get the 140kw which was way above expected price for an "all terrain" vehicle that didn't have low-ratio. I have now off-loaded my very reliable Hilux Surf 4WD 110 kw to a friend, so I'm now in limbo (without vehicle!) and wondering if I've made the right move! At least I negotiated the new SD4 to come with 17inch alloys and Bridgestone Dueller All-terrain tyres. 17inch tyres are far more practical. Land Rover - a bit more market research please - include existing owners 3 mths-3Yrs.

it looks like we're in complete agreement here. Well done for negotiating the 17" rims too; I can't imagine the point of having a Land Rover and then worrying about damaging delicate alloy rims on minor obstacles (Curbs, rocks, Honda CRV's etc! Wink Rolling Eyes )

Australia 2007 Freelander 2 i6 SE Auto Tambora Flame

I only realised I didnt have these when I dropped my folks at the airport last fortnight. I just directed the center two vents to the rear of the car and it cooled down pretty quickly. Truth is, it is normally just SWMBO and I in the car so we get by just fine but they would still be a nice addition. 1st time FL2 owner. 2007 SE i6 in Tambora Flame.

Canada 2008 LR2 i6 HSE Auto Tonga Green

Arm rests, cubby and soft leather steering wheel are already standard in some countries. Have been been the Freelander 2 / LR2 was released. In the Canada and the US the Freelander 2 is quite stocked standard and the (pre 2011) options list is very short, basically Xenons, 7.1 Dolby stereo, and Navigation.

They should bring back the fold forward back seats from the Freelander 1, that left a nice flat loading floor.

A cubby box with arm rest or arm rests as standard
USB port for your iPhone / memory stick
Integrated SatNav / Radio / control centre ala iDrive or mmi
No more green screen clocks and dials
Springs - no air suspension that will break
A slightly larger boot with fold flat seats
Better looking roof bars (not that I want them anyway)
A hidden towbar (keep CG happy)
Soft leather steering wheel as standard
Better choice of engines (small / large diesel & a petrol)
LED mirror puddles and number plate lights

What I want to keep

Wider rear bench that you can comfortably get 3 in
Silky smooth ride
the Land Rover utilitarian feel
The excellent seats
The panoramic sunroof
The general exterior dimensions

Oh and dont make it into a Disco - thats what the disco is there for!

Air suspension for crawling off road just like the Disco's....nothing else required. I've been in some extreme situations with mine and a low range box has never been needed. More ground clearance has definately been needed but I wouldn't want it jacked up under normal conditions. Surely they could modify the Disco's system to suit? Mike

lads who have them on the RRS S/C seem to say waste of time, difficult to change gear whilst wheel is turned etc

you would also need a auto box or at least a semi auto not a manual IIRC Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

I don't understand why there is a boot unlock button on the key fob, when you have to open the thing via the handle anyway.
So why not have it so it actually opens the boot Smile
