New Tyres

Hey every body.

I soon need new tyres for my 07 fl2.
Now i ride 235/55-19 Conti Cross Contact Uhp, but i would like to have better offroad options.

But there is not many tyres to choose between i that size.

Can I fit a 255/55-19 tyre on my freelander 2 whit org. RR rims?

Have anyone tried pirelli scorpion ATR ?
http://www.pirelli.com/tyre/ww/en/suv/shee...n%3DSUMMER

I think its looks nice, but it would be nice to hear from some whit some experience whit this tyre.

Thanks for the help.

/Rasmus from Denmark

Hey Rasmus

Looked into getting tires for my 08 lr2 and researched the pirellis. I heard they wore quick and had a bad warranty. I ended up buying 255/55/R18 General Grabber AT2 tires w/ stock rims. Still drives like a landrover and has a long 6 year warranty too. Time for some real offroading this weekend haha Smile

I would go for the new general grabber AT's, better than the at2. Very good in all road conditions and look good too.

Unfortunately Grabber AT is not made in size 255/55-19 or 235/55-19

Right now i ride aprox 20000 km on my cross contact tyres, and i think that is fine.
But if the pirellis wear out faster, will i probably not chose them.

Does anyone have other proposals for tyres for my car?

I too can strongly recommend the NEW general grabber A/T, and considering how much better they are off road there is hardly any difference on road compared to the conti's I took off.

Check out this site for reviews on tyres:

http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyres_For/Lan...nder-2.htm

Looks like the vredstein wintrac comes out top for the FL2.

I usually take this sites recommendation, changed all of my MX5 tyres to the suggested and were much better than the stock ones, its a really handy site!

Hope this helps. Freelander 2 SE 2007 in Stornaway Grey.

Looking for cheap roof rails and bars if anyone has any?

ATRs are tops. I've had 255/55/19s on my nasty, heavy Disco3 for 25,000 miles and they still have 5-6mm on them. When I get a FL2 later in the year I'll be sticking ATRs on it. Current driveway contents:
2021 V60 Cross Country B5
2009 FL2 dog bus and shooting wagon

On Order: 2023 Fisker Ocean Ultra - deposit paid.

Getting rid of both. D3 is going to be replaced by an FL2 and the Def is being replaced by a Td5 Disco.

The 90 is too small for some of the work we need it to do and there's a limit to what I'm prepared to put in my D3 (although I have used it to transport a couple of sheep in the boot before now Whistle ). With me doing 20-25k miles a year, an FL2 makes more sense as my daily car. Current driveway contents:
2021 V60 Cross Country B5
2009 FL2 dog bus and shooting wagon

On Order: 2023 Fisker Ocean Ultra - deposit paid.

2008 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Sumatra Black

Hi all, I need to know the answer to the original question. Ive got the 19 inch wheels and would rather put 255/55/19s on, but would like to know if they would fit without rubbing.

Answer

Did anyone come up with an answer ?

Will 255/55r19 be alright as a replacement for the standard 235/55r19 Tyres?

Will the affect the handling, drive train etc?

I will be needing Tyres soon and I want grabber at's if possible.

Any advice would be appreciated

Thanks

I've had two different answers from two different places. My local TyreWeb said "SHOULD be ok", and Andy at AJS Tyres recommended against it. On the basis that Andy knows what he's talking about and the TyreWeb guy may or may not, I haven't pursued it any further. Still interested to hear if anyone has actually fitted the 255s to the 19 inch wheels though...

Thanks for the reply, I really fancy the at's , they're cheaper than the others and I don't fancy paying £220+ each ( I'll need to rep ace all four at the same time!)
