white bounces heat off, black swallows it, hence cricketers wear white to try and keep cooler.
conversely black cools quicker hence fast planes such as the blackbird are indeed black.

things such as kettles are chrome because shiny things loose heat slower

why are household radiators white? cant rembember now but its due to heat loss somehow?

On a white car the dash is still black which reflects heat into the car, thus being a similar temp inside! White is crap that is all!

Also police buy white cos it's cheap!

It would be good for someone to conduct an experiment with 5 freelancers all different colours and leave in direct sunlight for 1 hour and measure the temp. Then we can see, there would be very differents in the temp between all the cars!

Didn't mythbusters do a test on black and White cars and the effect on temp inside? Can't remember results though

Apart from a few Ozzy members and those in hot climates, I don't think we have much to worry about with heat inside the cars, 2 mins of open windows when loading up and the air conditioning sort it out Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

I was talking about hot countries like Norway (& Ozzy) not wet dreary old England where nobody really needs a white car (except you Nick )

Never fear CG is here saving the planet with heat exchanger technology (another one arrives next week). LED lighting and now drilling for water in the ground under his feet.
Watch out for Chicken George's Yorkshire spring water in a shop somewhere one day possibly... but for gods sake dont drink the stuff  At work
