We are led to believe that the system records all warnings so when plugged into the diagnostic it can advise the monkey,....sorry, mechanic, sorry,....engineer what issues have arisen....hasn't helped me though!!! On a similar note I also was led to believe the cars have a data recorder for speed etc, alike to a black box on a plane...is this correct and if so how long is the info stored, can it be used in defence of speeding tickets on poorly calibrated speed cameras???? Not that have a need as yet ?? |

An ECU in a car will not have enough memory to record extended amounts of data such as speed against a time stamp unfortunately for you Carl.

If there has been a waranty repair logged it should be on the dealers computer?? I'm not sure if being ex demo means it might of escaped this, but anything that requires landrover repairs should be on it. Yes it does store warnings, when my towbar fitter plugged in for the software upgrade he mentioned some non essential warnings were in the ECU and the car was only a few weeks old.
