Mine was replaced under warranty. I may add that i have a more 'vertical' split. All was taken care of by James Edwards, Chester. |

The dealer is talking nonsense. The seat is covered by the 3 year unlimited mileage warranty. The only difference is that if the car is under six months, they will replace all seats so that the shade is all the same, on a 2 year old car they will only change the seat damaged. However you might have an argument as to how the split occurred... |

Mine is going in this month for a new seat base cover. The service staff knew all about the issue with seat splits. Yes it is covered under the 3 year warranty.

Thanks all, they are going to call me tomorrow, see what they say, it was serviced last week and they said that it was not covered, but now I am armed and ready. |

If all else fails maybe the forum members can create a list of dealers that will honour the warranty and replace the seat base cover???...

This may be old news but I happened to notice, whilst nosing around in the showrooms, that leather seats on the latest cars have "chamois" patches at strategic locations.

I think its where the leather dries out and the constant compression eventually splits it.

Trouble is though I have found out its not leather but sprayed vinyl on the bottom part of seat, workshop controller at my local dealer told me this. Clever trick by Landrover as I thought it was leather till now, but if you pinch it together it is totally smooth as opposed to the upper section which is I hope leather. |
