Hi all. Long time since the last post but this is relevant. I had a rear whine on a long journey home the Friday before last and, on the return to work Monday, it was still there. I thought it may be a wheel bearing or similar but from the driving seat could not locate it. I phoned my home dealer who said no known problem and, as I could not call in (away working in Woking) to call LR Assist to look at it. They came to works car park 6 pm and checked a few things. Nice guy. Pulled the rear wheels (but with the hand brake on!), checked for no leaks in the Haldex (the usual clue) and identified some feathering of the rear tyres. He set it up for me to take to nearest dealer in Chertsey and a Disco substitute from Enterprise rental.

They only put replacement parts in mine, didn't replace the whole dif. However when I got it back, there was a horrible sensation from underneath the rear on full lock which ended up being the Haldex unit. Who knows why it went bad as it was OK before they got to it. Anyway, I took it back and they replaced it. No whine now, all good and didn't cost anything. If I keep the car (on 96,000 kms now) I will definately get the extended warranty. However, I took the new Jeep Grand for a test drive yesterday..... Just waiting for the diesel version. |

Add mine to the list. Booked in Monday for a new rear diff. 47k on the clock. When I asked about driving it, dealer said not to worry as they were going to replace the whole diff.

Add mine to the list too. Car has done 47k miles. Had 4th year service 2 weeks ago after which i noticed whine from back of car. Dealer has inspected it and confirmed diff was beginning to fail. I have LR ext. Warranty and dealer said that whole diff would probably be replaced, however he has now stated that they received bulletin from LR stating that bearings only to be replaced. They commented that several other cars had same issue. Awaiting call to get work done once parts arrived. MY13 FL2 SD4 HSE Ipanema Sand, 19" LR sparkle alloys , spoiler, rear camera , LR det. Towbar

had my rear bearings replaced at 28000, if only Taggarts Motherwell had done the other warranty work agreed at the time i'd have been happy.
