England 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Tonga Green

So if I've got a speed related sound from the rear of the vehicle - which I suspect could be a 'Rear bearing'

If I turn the steering wheel whilst driving and find the noise stops/reduces when the body weight shifts to the right.

Does that indicate it is the left side bearing?

When the weight is to the left the sound doesn't change.....

Would a faulty Rear Diff have the same effect when shifting the body weight?

I used to have a whine from the back of my car, so I kicked out the misses. Rolling with laughter

I had a whine from my front RH side (car at 55k). Local independent LR garage checked every wheel bearing and everything else and discovered a very low front disc pad rubbing. Coinciently and fortuitously also noticed that the prop shaft bearing had thrown out all its grease. Apparently bearing is not a service item and can only be replaced with new prop shaft. £550.00 inc VAT and fitting. Ouch!!
