I ended up going with Land Rover Insurance. They knocked off about £100 to get the business in the end so was ok with that 2012 DISCOVERY 4 GS AUTO ORKNEY GREY

I could not understand LR insurance at my last renewal. I got the unbeaten renewal quote from Churchill down to £495 and when I phoned LR, they said £1300 was their best price. They could not understand how I managed to get such a quote bearing in mind I was only 26 at the time with 2 years NCB.

I am with esure. Just renewed at £314 fully comp, protected ncb, legal protection, spouse 2nd driver, £1000 audio limit, £100 vol excess. Includes commuting even though I don't. Bear in mind though I am a retired senior citizen and have full ncb. The car is a 2007 se manual. The annual mileage made quite a difference. Reducing it from 15000 pa to 10000 pa knocked about £45 off the premium together with a little haggle using comparison quotes. 2007 TD4 SE Manual

That seems a bit steep given all the factors you mentioned. I am only 27 and when I last renewed (aged 26) I had only racked up 2 years NCB and I managed to get £495 from Churchill with 2 named drivers and legal cover. The cover is SDP and commuting. £458.98 with Churchill so LR beat them by about 58 quid.

Yes. It's called multi-car discount. If you and your other half had insurance (assuming you both have a car) with them then you get a further discount. My mileage is 10k. Excess £500 I think.

Could be worth it, when doing a compare type exercise, I did a full quote with my Wife on the insurance, then removed her from the quote and re calculated and it added around £60 -£70 don’t know why and she had 3points at the time , currently with LR but waiting to see what arrives in September re new quote |

Odd this insurance is, the wife has diabetes controlled by insulin, on our policey it makes no difference, yet when on one of our sons policey it actually reduced it when we notified them of the condition |

Interesting. I stopped driving for 2 years due to epilepsy. You have to be 12 months seizure free before you can drive again. I spoke to Churchill and they said they would never ask the question anyway be it online or phone quotation. The reason for this is that the DVLA authorised the return of my licence so if they are happy, Churchill are happy. LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby LOT (Lord of Time) - University of Gallifrey |
