When the AC is ON, the cooling fans MUST be ON, at least on slow speed.

Thanks for your replies-describes the problem 100% -I have an appointment with the steeler tomorrow, will have to argue that the repair still should be covered under the warranty (which ended on 4/30/11), because the LR2 was there prior to that twice for the same problem-first time they found "too little freon", second time I brought the vehicle in on the last day of the warranty- they found "too much freon causing compressor shut down"...

Its no suprise as it took my dealer 2 weeks ! Yes it was there two weeks to fix the simple issue! This was after I had already told them the fans had stopped running but was told sharpley by an arrogant service advisor that the fans were nothing to do with the air con failing ! Two weeks later I had to get shirty with them and explain I was trained in AC and had over 20 years in automotive AC.

Oldgeezer, you are right 300% - the techs rush and don't think much-my independent mech told me that 2.25 lb of freon would not cause the compressor shut down, since it takes about 1.8 lb to fill the system, I asked him if the inside temp. sensor could be giving wrong output - he replied"I don't think so, AC needs to be checked"- and I told him I was making appointment w/ the dealer since I belive they should have fixed it before. I bet my independent mech would find the problem. The good techs don't stay at the dealer for long-they open their own shops. PS For the time lost traveling to the dealer and back, I probably could take it to my indy mech to be fixed- now is the 3rd time I took it in for this problem-this is trip #5, every time its about 2-3 hrs. of my time |
