I searched but did not find any info on...

The following problem: the radiator fan not workking correctly, that is when AC is ON, the radiator fan should be ON too? It is not always ON when AC is running so AC is not working well.

Any info is appreciated,
thanks.

When the AC is ON, the cooling fans MUST be ON, at least on slow speed.
I had a similar problem, described here https://www.freel2.com/forum/post68364.html#68364
I've checked the connectors of the cooling module and all is OK now.

Also, there is a SSM (41748), that treats that problem.

I have had problems with. AC failing in traffic and the fan speed controller has been at fault each time ! Flags up as fan speed controller curcit fault! The fan speed controller is common failure. Fan speed controller regulates the rad fans

Thanks for your replies-describes the problem 100% -I have an appointment with the steeler tomorrow, will have to argue that the repair still should be covered under the warranty (which ended on 4/30/11), because the LR2 was there prior to that twice for the same problem-first time they found "too little freon", second time I brought the vehicle in on the last day of the warranty- they found "too much freon causing compressor shut down"...
I believe they eventually will loose many customers over the QC issues. Here in the US LR is rated THIRD from the bottom by JD power and associates...

Its no suprise as it took my dealer 2 weeks ! Yes it was there two weeks to fix the simple issue! This was after I had already told them the fans had stopped running but was told sharpley by an arrogant service advisor that the fans were nothing to do with the air con failing ! Two weeks later I had to get shirty with them and explain I was trained in AC and had over 20 years in automotive AC.
The problem is that the vehicles are not too complicated but techs rely onthe diags port and if the comp says no it means no ! Very few have a good understanding of diagnostics and those of us that do don't get rewarded for our expertise.
The LR is quite good but service is poor ! Good luck

Oldgeezer,
you are right 300% - the techs rush and don't think much-my independent mech told me that 2.25 lb of freon would not cause the compressor shut down, since it takes about 1.8 lb to fill the system, I asked him if the inside temp. sensor could be giving wrong output - he replied"I don't think so, AC needs to be checked"- and I told him I was making appointment w/ the dealer since I belive they should have fixed it before. I bet my independent mech would find the problem.
The good techs don't stay at the dealer for long-they open their own shops.

PS
For the time lost traveling to the dealer and back, I probably could take it to my indy mech to be fixed- now is the 3rd time I took it in for this problem-this is trip #5, every time its about 2-3 hrs. of my time

late update:
the problem was fixed by replacing the fan and its control module (sold here in the US as one unit)-I was "lucky" to come to the dealer when the fan was not turning and it was hot inside-by the time the tech came to look the idiot fan started turning, but the service advisor saw the problem already...mine is I6 gas engine and has only one fan, diesels have two I understand.

Thanks to everyone for your help!
