fluttery flappy noise after diesel MOT test

hi all
whilst waiting for the steering pump to go (no probs so far touch wood) i do have a fluttery flappy sort of noise coming from the upper RHS of the engine, just under the plastic cover. Something to do with the throttle I think and i recall seeing another post with photos that covered it but can't seem to find it. Anyone got any clues? and a part no? The other poster took his off and dismantled it and found stripped teeth but as I say I can't now find that thread.

Car is running alright but the flappy noise continues for a second or two after closedown, which it didn't do before the MOT station revved the nuts off it to for the smoke test!

thanks
pete

That was mine. It makes a noise when you shut down, unless it's a loud whining noise I would not worry!

It's called the electronic throttle housing Around £100 from land rover part number LR012598

This revving the nuts off for the MOT, some garages don't want you to see that bit and some have asked me if the cam belt has been changed recently, I think they may be concerned about it for the smoke test. Some manufacturers may have got wise to the smoke test and limit the revs on the vehicle when it is stationary, the ones at at work will not above 2500 whilst parked, but when they detect the wheels moving they will rev to the limit.

It was just making a horrible loud whine when switched off.

I can never see the point in revving it stationary for the smoke test, I would have thought an engine if its going to smoke would do it better under load after a while at idle? revving under load would be better for the engine too as it is like normal operation, they could use a rolling road for that.
