aha! were there any symptoms of the stripped teeth then? mine runs fine although it does sound a bit more dieselly now; but that could be my imagination....

This revving the nuts off for the MOT, some garages don't want you to see that bit and some have asked me if the cam belt has been changed recently, I think they may be concerned about it for the smoke test. Some manufacturers may have got wise to the smoke test and limit the revs on the vehicle when it is stationary, the ones at at work will not above 2500 whilst parked, but when they detect the wheels moving they will rev to the limit. |

I can never see the point in revving it stationary for the smoke test, I would have thought an engine if its going to smoke would do it better under load after a while at idle? revving under load would be better for the engine too as it is like normal operation, they could use a rolling road for that. |
