My turbo does whistle a bit but no to loud, all turbos if on petrol or diesel engines will whistle thats the nature of Turbo charging. |

From reading other recent Forum posts, it seems that it's a characteristic of recent vehicles only; there seems to have been a recent change in the specification, and / or supplier, of the turbocharger. |

I had a new SD4 auto on loan for three days whilst my 2008 TD4 auto was in for a sorting. The SD4 had 2000 miles on the clock and due to the fact there has been lots of complaints about noisey turbos I had a good listen but never heard any whistle from inside the cabin, with radio off and blower speed on two ! If I put the drivers window down and drove between narro buildings i could hear a faint whistle. I must also add that my hearing is very good and would soon detect a noisy turbo.

Hey OG I think you might be on the button there - I borrowed a eD4 which I thought had a really noisy turbo (compared to mine) and it sounded as though there was less insulation or a hole through the bulkhead! Freelander 2 TD4 Auto, SE, Narvik Black, Alpaca full leather, Rear Headrest Entertainment System, 6 CD, 18 HSE Wheels, Privicy tints |
