United Kingdom 2011 Freelander 2 TD4_e GS Manual Santorini Black
I wanna join the gang

Hi All

I have been sculking around garages and the internet for a while and toying with the idea of buying a Freelander2.

It has been my "i want one of those " cars for a while ( even though i have also test driven Kugas , X3s,X1s etc ).

I have decided on a Freelander 2.2 TD4 GS - Manual and have been to my localish garages..
The list price of the above vehicle is £26.500 with black metallic paint and a full size spare.
Lloyds at carlisle have quoted £25,250 ( no trade in) and this has been repeated at Fultons Lamplugh.
There appears to be no more movement on the price.
Does this seem a good price or should i be driving a harder bargain / looking somewhere else??
Any experiences / advice would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

the fact that you have no trade in should normally put you in a good bargaining position.

the problem with the FL2 is that they are selling and there does not seem to be much give and take with the dealers at present.

really depends if you have your heart set on a FL2 or would be happy to buy a Kuga, etc

Iain

Thats what i am being told , The garges are saying they have no problem selling new cars at the moment due to the harsh winter experienced last year ( I know it was no fun for me in MG TF).
I am definetly wanting a freelander, the only thing about the price was that i said i could get it at x amount from a online dealer and they price matched straight away.
My concern was that i may have pitched my initial price too high.

Hello ASH, why not give our site sponsors a call. Speak to James Taylor on Tel 0208 992 2299, tell him where your from and what you want etc.etc.etc.
I know it's a long way down to the 'smog' for us up here but it's a train journey down and a very pleasurable drive back up Cool. Factor in travel/fuel cost to your overall purchase to see how they compare.
A quick call will cost you hardly nothing but you could gain a lot - they get nothing but praise from past buyers. Thumbs Up

Cheers Chris.

I have also looked at these, and the only thing that puts me off is there is a guy on here who has had a lot of trouble with his new HSE , and he praised Lloyds highly.
I know that if something goes wrong you are covered by the warrenty, its just it feels better to me if you have a problem with your car the garge that sold you it would be more enthusiastic about sorting out any issues.

Thanks all for your responses , thay are all being considered. Bow down

Some colours are no longer available because of the Japanese earthquake and the location of the factory that makes a special pigment. A lot of colours have been changed, although, I have heard the factory will be back online in June, maybe the colours will come back.

Ash, I got a great deal from James Edwards in Brock (Preston), although my car is being registered in August and not September, that may have helped.

There are probably loads of shades of black Surprised but I beleive the reason they changed the colour name is because the paint supplier in Japan suffered from the recent earthquake.

As mentioned, I would get a quote from the site sponsor also.

Better get a few touch up sticks quick.......

On the car price front ....

If the dealer isn't willing to deal then talk to them about finance packages - I managed to get mine rolled in at no extra cost - if you have cash to buy then stick it in the bank and make a few pennies on it. They have targets for selling finance much the saem as cars and you might be the sale they need to get their quota for that month... I saved 5.9% just by putting my car on an APP. Thumbs Up There's always a way forward!

2008 Freelander Td4 GS - Stornoway Grey - Now Gone - Sob
2011 Freelander Td4 GS 150 - Rimini Red - in its place - Better x far x 4!!

I know of a nice 2010 GS manual shortly going up for sale if that makes a better deal than a brand new one
