Quite a common fault I am afraid mate. Mine did this a couple of times, although it normally started working with the central locking again after a while. I believe it is to do with water getting in and corrodeing the lock somewhere. Apparently there is a "self do" fix, if not a trip to the dealers for a new switch (quite cheap). Try a search on here for the fix. |

I believe the problem isn't the switch because in maffs's case the switch DOES work.

Mine was a switch problem. Didn't work with central locking (intermittent) but did work with tailgate release. Tailgate keyfob button releases door completely without needing to use the rear handle switch, this being where the problem lies. |

Car is booked in with the main dealer for Thursday. They've ordered a micro-switch but we'll see. I'll update thread accordingly.

I believe that the water gets down on to the switch as it runs off the rear window, onto the tailgate and runs inbetween the panel which houses the tailgate switch, number plate light (can't remember the name of the panel) and the tailgate itself. There is no seal between the two sections, the rubber cover on the switch should save it from any water that is sucked on to the tailgate as you drive along. p****d off with a Digital Keyboard Warrior |
