the supplied riv-nuts are mild steel so take more squashing than alloy ones. still not overly difficult though. two spanners and a block of wood to rest the top spanner against.. the wood is optional just that without it the spanner is pressing against the underbody of the car. At work

I did same as first method but just used a 7mm? spanner instead of nut and spanner. you will need 10mm spanner not 13mm as in that guide.

possibly get a spare bolt or two as its fairly rough on the threads so you will want a fresh bolt for the final install At work

Worth every penny as they were all set in a matter of minutes...no hassle

I know, but why waste £13 on a tool I will never use again

I fitted a pair of side steps yesterday and had no issues with the rivnuts. I found it easier to install the numbered brackets after fitting the steps to the outer brackets, seemed to ensure better alignment. Bear in mind that, if you ever have the need to change a wheel using the LR jack, then you'll need to remove the step on that side of the car to access the jacking point.

Does anyone know a supplier of the plastic press stud clips that are used to fix the top part of the plastic sills? Two of mine are missing/broken.

When you've spent hundreds on steps £13 is insignificant in the grand scheme of things. Come to think about it, when you;ve spent thousands on a vehicle thats loves going back to the dealer its less significant again

£13 for a tool that sets the rivnut properly in seconds IS a no brainer

Hi, Just fitted a set of these steps from this dealer, and have had a few issues and wondered if i'm just being over cautious. The brackets on one side that fit to the rivnut were at a slight angle which made it very difficult to slide the steps in but now they feel very firm. On the other side every thing fitted very easy but the step on this side can be wobbled due to the play in the rear bracket. In this normal? Also, the 6mm pins are very short and no shakeproof or spring washers are supplied. Mine were so short that they only had a couple of turns of thread made which quickly stripped. I'm going to get some longer pins which can have shakeproof washers and going to use thread lock on them. Don't fancy losing a sidestep at 80 mph.

Also, why do you have to remove them to replace a wheel? I tried my jack under each jacking point and there was loads of room.

Unfortunatly I have no Torque wrench so had to guess. didn't dare giving too much as 10nm doesn't seem much.
