Squeaky Gear Change

Only a tiny little niggle but gets annoying on a long journey.

When I move into 1st, 3rd, 5th I get bit of a squeak, as if something is dry, needs lube. Changing into 2nd, 4th, 6th and reverse is fine.

Anybody else had this? Sure it has to be a simple fix, bound to be a squirt of lube somewhere, but where?

open bonnet. gear cables are just under the battery, oil/grease the slidey bits of the cables, I messed around greasing the gearstick end under the gaiter but , greasing the front end of the cables worked immeadiatly and has never needed repeated.

I used silicon grease , its not to sticky to avoid attracting dust/grit. its easier if you have someone in the car working thru the gears as you apply the grease At work
