I've got it too on my inline 6 LR2. Same place, same appearance, 500 miles on the car thus far. Will bring it up to the dealer and see what he says if I decide to go with the LR crossbars.

It looks like a heat problem I had it appear duringdemo while doing a 40 minute 6% gravel hill climb
It was smoking hot
Ford puts Grass heat shields on it's other exhausts

Stay out of the dry grass or you could be finding out whether or not it will wade through a Martin Mars air tanker fire retardant bomber dump Laughing 4x4's and skis

mine goes in tomorrow, we shall see - not hopeful - he already said its probably 'normal' but at least its documented - i doubt the muff will last to 10-15k

roof rack is lots of noise - beware but looks great Cool
